City of Columbus, Ohio, USA
Columbus is located in the northeastern United States of America on the Kyoto River. The city is the largest population center and metropolitan center of Ohio. The urban population is over half a million.
Currently, the city is considered to be quite developed economically. The main areas of the economy are aircraft construction, electronics and power equipment manufacturing, food and textile industries, insurance and banking. Healthcare and education also play a vital role in the city's economy.
The city is served by the Port Columbus International Airport, which is located 10 kilometers from the business center. Regular passenger flights are made to many major cities in America.
Town center of business life is downtown - here are located main attractions, shops and restaurants. The German Village is a quiet, picturesque, historic area with beer bars, bakeries, shops and parks. Old Oaks is the most untouched area of the city, where buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries have survived. Previously, it was home to representatives of the middle and upper class; nowadays, you can see mansions in the style of Queen Anne in the area.
The symbol of the city is the Main Street Arch Bridge, built in 1937. The bridge over the Scioto River, more than 200 meters long, with three spans, was closed in 2002 due to the high deterioration of the structures. By 2010, the bridge was completely rebuilt and traffic on it was restored.

History of the city of Columbus
Before the United States gained independence, there was a small village on the site of today's city. It was founded by an immigrant Lucas Sullivan. The village was named Franklinton. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the capital of the area was chosen, which was named Columbus - in honor of the famous navigator Columbus. It was from this moment that the development of the settlement began. However, in 1833, the city was struck by a cholera epidemic and most of the inhabitants died.
At the end of the nineteenth century, Columbus reached the level of a major industrial center, and its population exceeded 125 thousand people. In 1913, a severe flood hit the city, many residents were left homeless. The city was restored for a very long time and the restoration was completed only in the mid-90s of the last century.

Columbus is very attractive for foreign tourists who like to stroll through the old city districts or admire the views from the waterfront. First of all, lovers of natural attractions go to Columbus National Park - Cuyahoga Valley. It is the only area in Ohio that is under government protection. To see the local beauty, tourists travel several kilometers by boat along the flowing canal. The local flora and fauna are very interesting and varied. More than nine hundred species of plants grow here, and many species of birds, animals and fish live. Flowers of amazing beauty are also grown in the park: orchids, hyacinths, violets, phlox. The main attraction of the reserve is the famous Blue Falls.

Franklin Botanical Gardens is a wonderful place to admire the botanical collection, both outdoors and in a glass conservatory. The greenhouse also hosts an exhibition of tropical butterflies from spring to autumn. The park itself contains a large number of glass figures and lamps. The Columbus Zoo will be of interest to young guests of the city. The zoo is divided into zones, each of which has its own name. The first zone is North American, the second is Asian, the third is the coastal area, the fourth is the African forest, the fifth is Australian.
Columbus also has a Museum of Art, opened in the 1930s. Here are the masterpieces of European and American masters, among which there are works by Monet and Picasso. The Fire Museum has a collection of fire fighting equipment from different eras. How to get to Columbus
Port Columbus International Airport receives flights from all major airlines in the country from most major cities. In addition, the Greyhound and Megabus buses run here (the latter are from Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Chicago).
