Planning Your Poolside Escape:

Before diving in, here's some essential information to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience:

  • Hours: Generally open from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily, with a cleaning break between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
  • What to Pack: Swimsuit, towel, sunscreen (free sunscreen available at some pools), sturdy lock (required), and a plain white shirt or hat for sun protection (colored shirts not allowed).
  • What to Leave at Home: Food, glass bottles, electronic devices, and newspapers.
  • Managing Lines: Be prepared for lines, especially on hot days. The city may implement measures like swim sessions and time limits to ensure everyone gets a chance to cool off.

Beyond the Pool:

NYC's outdoor pool program offers more than just swimming. Take advantage of these additional resources:

  • Free Swimming Lessons: Learn to swim or brush up on your skills with free lessons offered at various pools.
  • Other Aquatics Programs: Explore water fitness classes, lap swimming opportunities, and programs designed for seniors and people with disabilities.
  • Indoor Pool Options: If the outdoor season ends or the weather doesn't cooperate, consider NYC's recreation centers with indoor pools (membership required).
