Malibu Beach - California, United States

Rajesh Kumar Rana       Monday, December 25, 2023

Malibu Beach or Malibu Lagoon State Beach is the same beach on the coast of which the cult movie "Malibu Rescuers" was filmed. Of course, you will not meet Pamela Anderson there, but this does not make the place less interesting. 🔗malibu city tourist guide

What state is Malibu in?

Malibu is a city in the United States, located in the west of Los Angeles County, California. Malibu is a 43-kilometer stretch of the Pacific coastline and is known for its warm climate, sandy beaches, and home to numerous Hollywood stars.

Malibu Beach

Malibu Beach (Malibu lagoon State beach)

The name of the beach comes from the city of the same name, in which it is located. In the language of the Indians who once inhabited these lands, "Malibu" literally meant "the surf sounds loud." There is truth in this - the Pacific Ocean washing the resort really makes loud sounds and is distinguished by high waves. The latter, by the way, have long been chosen by surfers from all over the world.

In this regard, the Malibu beach is conditionally divided into several parts: one is intended for swimming and relaxing, the second is for conquering the sea waves on the boards, and the third is more “wild” and rocky, it is strictly forbidden to swim in it.

The length of the coastline is 43 kilometer. The cover is sandy, in some places you can see snow-white, specially imported sand. The ocean floor is predominantly sandy, but rocks can also be found.

Amenities on Malibu Beach are unevenly concentrated and depend on the part of the resort. The rocky pristine area is considered less developed in terms of infrastructure. Here you will not find a single rental point. It is better to take everything you need with you.

The western coast zone is intended for lovers of secluded pastime and picnics - there are even special tables here. The place is suitable for a leisurely walk and observing the inhabitants of the natural area (mostly they are represented by sea birds). Do you find this activity boring? Adherents of the now fashionable birdwatching (literally, “watching the birds”) will not agree with you.

Can you swim in Malibu?

Malibu Beach is one of the most beautiful places where everyone can relax and fully enjoy the ocean. Here you can not only swim and relax, but also engage in any kind of water activity.

Things to do in Malibu Beach in Los Angeles

Those who have dream of fishing in the Pacific Ocean all their lives should settle down in the eastern part of Malibu Beach. It is easy to recognise it by the famous pier, the image of which often adorns postcards and photographs. Actually, you can throw a fishing rod from it.

  • Don't want to fish? There are benches on the pier, allowing you to enjoy a panoramic view of the ocean and the surroundings of the town.
  • For lovers of mobile sports, in particular beach volleyball, a special playground is equipped on Malibu Beach.
  • Lifeguards are on duty next to her, monitoring the safety of vacationers.
  • A few meters from the pier is a paradise for lovers of conquering ocean waves - Malibu Surfrider Beach. If you are still a complete zero in this matter, but you want to correct the situation, you should not worry. The coast includes a zone not only for experienced surfers, but also for beginners. Be prepared for the fact that there may be as many observers in this part of the resort as those who like to stand on the board. These places were chosen not only by surfers, but also by pelicans and fur seals. In winter, they are accompanied by whales, who are migrating at this time.
  • But most of all on the coast of Malibu Beach are catering establishments. Here you will be fed with dishes of Californian, Mexican, sea and even Japanese cuisines. Prefer fast food? Check out McDonald's or D'Amore's Pizza. Malibu Farm Pier Café will delight visitors with chic views from the pier.
  • A variety of shops are concentrated along the Malibu beach, selling not only food, but also surf products, accessories, souvenirs and other trinkets.
  • Hotels on the coast are represented by different levels of comfort and price range: from 2-star to 5-star.
  • If you plan to get to the resort by car, please note that parking here is paid. Yes, and finding a free place in the afternoon will be a difficult task.

Tourists interested in architecture and history may be advised to visit the Adamson House. The building is located near the pier and is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. The building dates from 1929 and was once residential. Today, ancient pottery exhibits are kept within its walls.

The Malibu Lagoon Museum introduces visitors to the history of the town. Its exhibits reflect the life of the Chumash Indian tribe, the last ranchers, and tell about the origin of surfing in these places.

Southern California is famous for its laid-back, surf-focused beaches, among the most iconic of which is the stretch of coastline west of Los Angeles. Malibu Beach RV Park is the only RV Park in the city of Malibu, and its name is not hyperbolic, you really can camp on the sand. Each of the 142 RV sites and 35 tent sites offers a great view of either the mountains or ocean, so you can't go wrong with your location. The campground is located along Pacific Coast Highway between Corral Canyon and Solstice Canyon, both popular for hiking, and is just a half mile from the beloved Malibu Seafood, always with a line out the door.

The park has everything you need for a cozy stay, including full hookups, hot showers, laundry facilities, a convenience store for late-night snacks, an arcade, propane refill, dump stations, and more. You can venture out to see what the region has to offer: the Santa Monica Pier, The Getty Villa, Hollywood, or sit back at camp and enjoy a classic California sunset.
