Wollman Rink location

The Wollman Rink is located in the eastern part of New York City, very close to the Central Park Zoo. It is the perfect place to experience the magic of New York and American Christmas in all its splendor. Can you imagine gliding gracefully across the ice under a starry sky while surrounded by the towering skyscrapers of Manhattan? Well, that's what you'll feel when you enter the track and start to ride it. And it is that Wollman Rinkes is the perfect place to create such an enchantment and feel the magic of Christmas.

When is the skating rink open?

The skating rink is open from the end of October to the beginning of April. If you are used to moving around the center of New York on foot, you will not have much trouble locating it. Note that it is less than a five-minute walk from the south entrance of W. 59th Street and 6th Avenue. In addition, it has the advantage that it opens every day from 10 in the morning, so you will not have the problem that many tourists who visit other cities find, due to ignorance, they usually go to museums, theaters or other relevant buildings just the day they are closed. Your walk to Central Park Wollman Rink will not be in vain.

Regarding the schedule, Monday and Tuesday from 10 am to 2:30 pm; on Wednesdays and Thursdays it opens longer, from 10 am to 10 pm; while on Fridays and Saturdays, that same schedule is extended until 11 at night and on Sundays it opens from 10 in the morning to 9 at night. And if it is a public holiday in the city, the hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The price of skating

Skating on this rink isn't cheap, but when you consider the views that await you, it's well worth the splurge. Adults must pay about $ 11.25 if they go from Monday to Thursday, while the fee increases to $18 if they go skating from Friday to Sunday. If you are accompanied by children eleven years old or younger, they will pay only 6 dollars regardless of the day they skate. And if you go with retired people, they will pay 5 dollars, from Monday to Thursday and 9 if they go on the weekend. The most logical thing is that you have not traveled with the skates, so it will be 8 dollars more per person for your rental.

One of the drawbacks of this rink is that if you want to access it just to see how the rest skate, you also have to pay money, specifically, 5 dollars.

Various Activities

Let's say you've never ice - skated before and you'd like to do so at a spot as prominent as Wollman Rink. You have nothing to fear, the rink will be full of skaters who at first seem a bit insecure and clumsy with their skates, but as time progresses on the rink, they get the hang of sliding. However, you can hold on whenever you want to the side railings of the track.

On the other hand, for the more experienced and for those who want to improve their skills, a skating school is offered seven days a week. If you are going to be in New York for a long period, you should try it. The classes are for all ages, although there are also more advanced lessons to learn figure skating, synchronized skating or hockey. If you sign up, your Christmas holidays will not leave anyone indifferent.
